Srinagar-Jammu Highway: Traffic Advisories for Commuters

SRINAGAR: Traffic department authorities said on Tuesday that on Wednesday, subject to good weather and better road conditions, SANJY convoy/light motor vehicles Passenger/private cars will be permitted on both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH -44) i.e. Jammu to Srinagar and vice versa.

The traffic department in a notice said TCU Jammu/Srinagar should liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing this traffic.

The traffic department in a notice said SANJY convoy from Bhagwati Nagar (Jammu) to Baltal at 0400hrs, SANJY convoy from Bhagwati Nagar (Jammu) to Pahalgam at 0500hrs.

“Passenger cars and LMV passenger cars will be released from Nagrota (Jammu) from 07:30. at 11:00 a.m., from Jakheni (Udhampur) from 08:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from Qazigund from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.,” the notice reads.

“The above traffic will use the Jawahar tunnel route until 2:00 p.m.,” it says.

“TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar will notify all concerned of the traffic advisory and cut-off times. No vehicles will be allowed to move before and after the cut-off times,” he added.

“Subject to good weather and better road conditions, HMVs will be permitted from NAVYUG tunnel to Jammu after assessing the road and traffic situation on NH-44. TCU Srinagar to liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing HMVs,” the notice reads.

“Government forces are advised/requested not to oppose the advisory/traffic plan due to possible traffic jam due to narrow carriageway between Nashree and Banihal on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. Tomorrow they may shuttle from Srinagar to Jammu after confirming TCU Ramban’s NHW status,” it reads.

“Subject to good weather and good road conditions, vehicular traffic on the Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari road will be permitted from both sides, i.e. Srinagar to Kargil and vice versa,” he added.

“LMVs will be released from Minamarg and Sonamarg at 05:00 until 17:00 and HMVs will be released from Minamarg to Srinagar at 07:00. until 11:30 a.m. and from Sonamarg to Kargil at 13:00. up to 1800 hours. No vehicles will be allowed between 6:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.,” the notice reads.

“Subject to good weather and improving road conditions, only LMVs will be permitted from both sides i.e. Srinagar to Poonch and vice versa. These vehicles will be released from Behramgalla (Buffliaz) to Srinagar and Herpora (Shopian) to Poonch from 09:00. at 1500 hours. No vehicles will be allowed after the cut-off times,” it read.

People have been advised not to travel on the highway without confirming road conditions from phone numbers Jammu (0191-2459048, 9419147732), Srinagar (0194-2450022, 2485396,18001807091), Ramban (9419993745 ), Udhampur (8491928625) and PCR Kishtwar (9906154100) for the status of Sinthan Road.
