Kyndryl appoints A / NZ chairman for 2021 split

Kyndryl announced that it has appointed Kerry Purcell president of the company in Australia and New Zealand.

Kyndryl is the independent public company that will be created following the separation of the Managed Infrastructure Services business from IBM.

Purcell’s appointment is a key step in creating Kyndryl’s new global leadership model, which has been streamlined to accelerate decision-making and bring expertise and skills closer to its clients, the company says.

Kyndryl CEO Martin Schroeter said, “Kyndryl will organize around our customers and ensure that we give them access to top management and the best talent and skills in each market.

“Kerry has deep expertise that creates value for customers by helping them optimize their performance through artificial intelligence and automation and has acquired essential local knowledge in this region.

“Having an experienced leader like Kerry in Australia and New Zealand positions Kyndryl strongly in a market that is critical to our long term strategy. “

Purcell is currently Managing Director of Global Technology Services in Japan and as such has focused on transforming IBM’s hybrid cloud and infrastructure services there since 2019.

Previously he was vice president of business development for IBM Japan and before that he was managing director of IBM Australia and New Zealand.

Commenting on his new role, Purcell says: “Supporting the technological transformations of our customers is a great responsibility because it is the vital systems that power human progress.

“I am delighted to take on our clients’ most difficult challenges and to help lead and develop Kyndryl in this important region. “

To ensure its offerings are aligned with customer needs, Kyndryl also announced that it will create an integrated global practice for customers, combining managed services, advisory services and implementation.

The company is organized into six global practices, including Cloud; Basic enterprise and zCloud; Applications, data and AI; digital workplace; Security and resilience; and Network and periphery.

Overall, Kyndryl is focused on designing, operating and managing the most modern, efficient and reliable technology infrastructure for the world’s largest businesses and organizations, with experienced service experts.

Schroeter says, “Kyndryl meets clients where they are on their digital transformation journey, with a small, focused team that has the essential skills they depend on to be successful.

“Our national leaders and governing partners will be empowered to work closely with clients, make quick decisions and access the world’s top talent in the industry. Their mission will be to put Kyndryl at the heart of our customers’ progress.

The previously announced separation of the company is expected to take place by the end of 2021. According to the company, these latest announcements are important milestones that will set Kyndryl up for the future.

The company also states that nothing will change with the IBM Global Technology Services business until responsibility has been transferred to the Kyndryl team. Further key announcements regarding leadership and reporting structure will follow in the near future.
