Japan relaxes travel advisories for 34 countries, including China and South Korea

The Japanese government on Friday eased its coronavirus pandemic travel warning for 34 countries, including China, South Korea and India, and no longer asks residents of Japan to refrain from non-essential travel to those countries.

The Foreign Office also downgraded its travel advisory for France, Germany and Italy, along with 11 other European countries, to the lowest Level 1 on its four-point scale, advising Japanese nationals traveling to these areas to “remain fully vigilant”. .”

The total number of areas under the Tier 1 category rose to 70. At the end of May, Japan moved 36 countries and regions to the lowest tier, including the United States, Britain, Canada and Hong Kong. .

The easing of the warning for South Korea came two days after flights resumed between Seoul’s Gimpo Airport and Tokyo’s Haneda Airport. They had been suspended for more than two years due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Meanwhile, 90 nations and regions remain under the Tier 2 warning, including 16 in Asia and Oceania, such as Taiwan, Indonesia and Australia, as well as 27 European nations. As for the Tier 3 advisory, which urges residents to avoid all travel, the 41 countries remain unchanged.
